With the Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 approaching, the state's main opposition party, Congress (Congress), has started dirty politics over milk by pitting Amul against Karnataka's milk brand 'Nandini' (Amul vs. Nandini). Continuing his attack against the state's ruling BJP, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah tweeted on Sunday (April 9, 2023), asking PM Narendra Modi whether the purpose of his visit was to 'bring the state to power or were meant to 'rob'. Siddaramaiah has asked that "the purpose of your coming to Karnataka is to give to Karnataka or to loot Karnataka completely? You have already taken away the banks, ports, and airports from the Kannada people. Now, are you also trying to steal Nandini (KMF) from us? Continuing his point, the Congress leader said, "It was the Baroda Bank of Gujarat that merged our Vijaya Bank with itself. The ports and airports were handed over to Adani of Gujarat. Now, Gujarat's Amul is also planning to eat our KMF (Nandini). Mr. Narendra Modi, are we the enemies of Gujaratis? Former CM Siddaramaiah has further said, "Instead of giving 2 crore jobs to the youth in a year, Narendra Modi took away the jobs of Kannada people from our banks, ports, and airports. Now Karnataka's BJP wants to harm the prospects of our farmers by giving KMF to Amul. Media PM Narendra Modi visited Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts of Karnataka to participate in an event to mark the completion of 50 years of 'Project Tiger'. Which former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tweeted before PM Modi's election tour on Sunday (April 11, 2023). Amul has also posted an infographic on its official Twitter handle about its arrival in Karnataka on April 5. This was seen by the Congress as a way to take on the BJP in the poll-bound state. The Congress has promptly linked the Amul infographic to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's December 2022 speech. In this speech, Amit Shah called for greater cooperation between Amul and Nandini. — Siddaramaiah (@siddaramaiah) April 9, 2023 Inaugurating a mega-dairy plant in Mandya, Amit Shah said, "Amul and KMF will work together to ensure that every village in the state has a primary dairy. In 47 years, Karnataka has progressed in the dairy sector, and the business has grown from Rs 4 crore to Rs 25,000 crore. Amul and KMF will have to work together to promote cooperative dairying in Karnataka."
