Congress in preparation for Maharashtra assembly elections, appointed five in-charge

Mumbai: Congress on Thursday has appointed five senior Congress leaders in charge of various regions of the state, hoping to return to the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has said that, 'All India Congress Committee (AICC) has approved the proposal of election in-charge for Maharashtra assembly elections.'

Venugopal has said that party general secretary Mukul Wasnik has been made election in-charge of Vidarbha region. In-charge of Rajasthan Avinash Pandey has been given the charge of Mumbai and the control room of the party. The party has given senior leader Rajni Patil the reins of Western and Konkan region, while RC Khuntia has been made in charge of the northern region. This move of the party is being seen as a new strategy. Earlier in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had appointed two in-charge.

Let us tell you that before the announcement of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, the Election Commission will hold an important meeting on Friday morning. All the three commissioners and top officials of the commission will be present in the meeting. An election schedule can be announced anytime after this meeting. It is being told that assembly elections will be held in October in Maharashtra and Haryana, while in Jharkhand, there will be assembly elections in December. Recently, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora also visited Maharashtra.
