NEW DELHI: Former Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram, accused in INX media-related corruption and money laundering cases, was arrested by the CBI late Wednesday night. After the arrest of P Chidambaram, a press conference was convened today as the Congress, accusing the government of taking retaliatory action against Chidambaram. Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said in a press conference that democracy has been killed in the last two days. Surjewala said that in the last few days, the country has seen the killing of democracy. The way action has been taken against former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram clearly shows that the Modi government is acting against him with political malice. Surjewala said that the law was being flouted. On the one hand, the country's economy is going into a trough, which is why the Modi government is taking such action to divert the attention of the people. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala accused the ruling BJP government at the Centre of misusing the CBI and ED. The press conference has been held at the party headquarters on behalf of the Congress. Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been arrested by the CBI on Wednesday night and will be produced before the court today.
