Lucknow: Congress has decided not to field candidates for Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-elections. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Yogesh Dixit has given information in this regard. Yogesh has argued behind not fielding candidates that in view of the results of the assembly elections, it has become necessary that Congress in the state strengthens itself by rebuilding itself. This could lead to the emergence of a strong alternative in the 2024 election. Many kinds of discussions have started in the political corridors on not landing the candidate. People say that Congress has extended a hand of friendship towards the SP. It's the friendship attempt of 2024. Today is the last day of nominations for the by-elections to Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats, which fell vacant after Azam Khan and Akhilesh Yadav became MLAs. Voting is scheduled for June 23. BJP, SP and BSP have announced their candidates. In Azamgarh, BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Nirahua, SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav and BSP candidate Guddu Jamali will file their nominations today. BJP candidate from Rampur, Lodhi will also file his nomination today. In the by-elections, the BJP and the BSP have made a big move to dust off the SP in Azamgarh. There is a good population of Muslims and Yadavs. It is considered to be the stronghold of the SP. The BSP has given the ticket to Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali from Azamgarh, focusing on Muslim-Dalit votes. Jamali is a popular Muslim leader in this constituency and if he gets the support of his community as well as Dalits, he can upset the SP. Himachal Pradesh elections: Fear of anti-incumbency!
