Lucknow: A husband killed his wife for not offering Namaz in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. He killed his wife by stabbing her with a sharp ice pick. After the murder, the husband also committed suicide by stabbing himself with the same weapon. According to media reports, the name of the deceased is Shahana, while her husband's name is Chavez. Both had done love marriage. The family members of the deceased have described the deceased Chavez as a drug addict and an abuser of his wife. The incident is being reported on Saturday (May 5).

According to reports, the case is of Ganj police station area of Rampur. Chavez lived illegally with his wife Shahana in the Kanshiram residential colony here. In the year 2018, both had a love marriage. He had 2 children from this marriage. Chavez used to take care of the family by doing the work of painting. It is being told that on Friday (May 5, 2023) there was a fight between the husband and wife regarding the Friday prayer. After this, Chavez had also beaten Shahana. Being angry with this beating, the wife had gone to her maternal home. Shahana's maternal uncle was in the Civil Lines area of Rampur, about 2 km away from Chavez's house.
In a video going viral, the family members of Shahana have alleged that Chavez had brought his wife after persuading his family members. During this, the family members of Chavez had taken the responsibility of Shahana's security. On Saturday morning, there was again a dispute between the two on some matter. Angered by this dispute, Chávez lashed out at his wife with an ice-breaker. Shahana died after suffering multiple wounds in this attack. After Shahana's death, Chavez injured himself with the same wound. Meanwhile someone informed the police about the incident. When the police reached the spot, both husband and wife were found injured. The police took both of them to the hospital, where the doctors declared them dead. According to Deputy SP Rampur Anuj Chaudhary, further action is being taken by getting the post mortem of both the bodies done. Chavez's neighbors have called him a drug addict. According to the neighbours, he often used to quarrel with Shahana.
