Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka postponed due to Corona

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday that Sri Lanka's visit to Bangladesh has been postponed in view of the global epidemic corona virus. Bangladesh were to play a series of three Test matches under the ICC World Test Championship in Sri Lanka in July.

The ICC wrote on its Twitter handle, "Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka next month has been postponed." Sri Lanka Cricket also issued a statement stating that Bangladesh has postponed the tour due to the pandemic being 'not complete'. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board said, "The boards of the two countries have agreed to postpone the series to be held between the national team in July next month, and its planning will now be planned with the consent of the two countries."

Bangladesh cricket has been hit by the epidemic after former captain Mashrafe Mortaza, spinner Najmul Islam and opener Nafees Iqbal got infected by Corona earlier this month. More than 1,19000 infected cases of Corona virus 'covid-19' have been reported in Bangladesh, while more than 1500 people have died.
