Government did this to limit the price of medical devices

122 countries of the world are fighting a war against Coronavirus. This virus has caught in many countries. The government has taken tough measures against the rise in the price of medical devices by some companies amid the war with the coronavirus epidemic. The National Pharma Pricing Authority (NPPA) issued a new notification listing 24 types of medical devices required.

Also, it has issued orders to states and UTs to ensure availability of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE), masks, gloves, testing kits and ventilators.

In the new notification implemented by NPPA, it has been made clear that there should be no decrease in the quality of these medical devices and their retail price cannot be increased by more than 10 percent. This 10 percent increase can only be at the maximum price of the last 12 months. The manufacturers and distributors who violate it, along with the fine, will also be charged more amount.
