Mizoram reported 880 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, down from 633 the day before, bringing the state's total to 1,48,438, according to a health department official. The state had earlier reported 1,513 instances on Tuesday, the greatest single-day spike in three months. The death toll has risen to 564, with two more people dying to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to the official. The single-day positivity rate climbed to 20.36 percent from 17.85 percent the day before. He said the Aizawl district had the most new cases, with 225, followed by Saitual (182) and Serchhip (160). According to the official, the number of active cases has increased to 6,639, with 149 people recovering from the virus in the previous 24 hours, putting the overall number of recoveries to 1,41,235. COVID-19 patients have a 95.14 percent recovery rate and a 0.37 percent mortality rate. COVID-19 has been tested on 15.53 lakh samples in the northeastern state thus far, with 4,323 samples tested on Tuesday. Dr. Lalzawmi, the state immunisation officer, said that over 7.57 lakh persons have been vaccinated so far, with 5.95 lakh getting the full dosage.
