Ammonia leak hospitalizes 20 employees of a fish processing unit near Mangaluru

Following a leak of ammonia gas, 20 employees of a fish processing unit, including 16 women, were brought to a private hospital in Mukka, on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

The victims, according to police, are employees of the Everest Fish Processing Plant, which is located inside the Panambur police station's jurisdiction. Employees experienced eye irritation and other pain as a result of a minor ammonia leak, according to District Fire Officer Mohammed Nawaz. The men were promptly sent to the Mukka hospital by the commanding officer.

Mr. Nawaz stated that around noon, fire and rescue officials, as well as Mangalore Chemicals and Herbicides and pesticides staff, went to the scene and plugged the leak. In the hospital, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar spoke with the personnel.
