Crime: Woman gang-raped in Delhi, Two arrested

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested after a 34-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in the national capital, officials said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, according to the official, when the victim woman requested a ride from an unknown car in western Delhi. "Around 3 a.m., the woman was picked up from Sagarpur and dropped off in Nihal Vihar," the official said.

The two suspects in the automobile drove the victim woman to a quiet location in the Nihal Vihar neighborhood, where they committed the crime.

The police launched a FIR under sections 376 D and 342 of the Indian Penal Code based on the woman's complaint and apprehended the accused from the Hari Nagar area of the city after reviewing multiple CCTV footage. According to police sources, one of the two suspects had turned 18 on the day of the event, and both of them were celebrating his birthday.

As per reports, the registration of the FIR was delayed. However, a senior official stated that the issue had been resolved right away. "The issue arose because the police station where the car was relocated had various jurisdictions," he said. The car used in the crime has also been confiscated by the police.
