You need to be a little careful now if you file income tax returns. A computer and mobile protection software manufacturer has said that fake messages from the income tax department are coming up a lot nowadays. These messages are being sent by cyber serials and they are stealing taxpayer money.Pune-based Quick Heal Technologies said that cybercriminals have cleverly used the message as an income tax department's message to encourage tax payers to share bank details. Don't take it. This message can tempt anyone as it mentions the amount refunded by income tax. For your information, tell us that a wrong bank account number is being sent to the message. In case the bank account number in the message is incorrect, you are asked to click on a link provided there. Clicking on the link opens a fake website with a layout and font exactly similar to that of the income tax department. Quick Heal reported that taxpayers on this site are asked to enter the login details that they log in to the original website. It is only after you do this that you are asked to enter the correct bank account. Fraudsters call the taxpayer as soon as they get the correct bank account as a fake I-T department employee. These fraudsters call taxpayers to file fines citing irregular IT returns. The fraudsters then manipulate dyes to transfer money from their victim's account through the original login details of the I-T department website to their account. They also change the details of cybercriminal accounts, such as phone numbers, email IDs. Such fake messages can't be prevented from entering the phone's inbox, but such fraud can be avoided by taking some precautions. Quik Heil said that no taxpayer should report his financial details such as bank account number, PIN and OTP when such messages arrive. Don't even click the link or attachment in such a fake message until you're confirmed about the message.
