World No. 1 tennis player Daniil Medvedev has suffered a defeat in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters. Medvedev was defeated by France's Gael Monfils 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in a 3-set match. With this defeat, Medvedev is set to move down from No. 1 in the upcoming ATP rankings. In his place, Novak Djokovic of Serbia will again become the world No. 1 player. However, the first set against Gail Monfils was won by Medvedev 6–4. It was expected that he was going to win the match easily.
