New Delhi: Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government sees no other way to control pollution in the national capital except a complete lockdown. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Monday told the apex court that it is ready to take steps like the entire Lockdown to control air pollution. But it should be implemented throughout the National Capital Region (NCR). The Kejriwal government said in an affidavit, "GNCTD (NCT of Delhi government) is ready to take steps like complete lockdown to control local emissions. However, this move will only prove meaningful if it is implemented in NCR areas of neighbouring states. Given the small size of Delhi, this lockdown will have a very limited impact on air quality.'' The Delhi government said in court, "The issue needs to be resolved at the level of airsheds (part of the atmosphere that behaves according to the spread of emissions) related to NCR areas. In view of this, if the Government of India or the Air Quality Management Commission in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas orders it for the entire NCR region, we are ready to consider this step.''
