New Delhi: The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) on Saturday slapped a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for not complying with dust control norms at a demonstration site on Tansen Marg. According to an official order, FICCI has been asked to deposit the penalty within 15 days. DPCC has directed FICCI not to carry out any demonstration drive without imposing anti-smog guns at the project site at its Tansen Marg in the capital. The order said FICCI will have to take adequate measures to correct the irregularities found during the inspection on October 9 and submit compliance reports within a week. An undertaking in this regard has to be submitted within 7 days. The DPCC had earlier instructed FICCI to stop working on the demonstration site. Let us tell you that according to government guidelines, it is necessary to install anti-smalls guns at construction and demonstration sites larger than 20,000 sq. m. Environment Minister Gopal Rai had said on Friday that there are 39 sites in the area of 20,000 sq. m. in Delhi and six of these sites do not have anti-smog guns and all of them have been ordered to stop functioning.
