New Delhi: The Directorate of Education Delhi has now implemented a 'no detention policy' this year for children from nursery to class 8 in schools in the national capital. However, at present, the policy has been implemented only for the year 2022. According to this policy, from nursery to 8th standard, no child will be failed. The state government has also made it clear that this year the evaluation of the children will not be done on the basis of regular examinations, but on the basis of assignments and assessment of the project. At the same time, Delhi Parents Association has welcomed this policy of the state government. Association President Aparajita Gautam says that this step of the government is welcome. During the crisis of the Corona epidemic, when children were promoted without exams and they did not even have offline classes. At such times children should not be evaluated on the basis of examination. Many parents of Delhi are saying that a no-detention policy should be implemented in small classes. Aparajita said that still, on behalf of the association, I believe that if the government implements this policy next year, then it will be a laudable step. there, Delhi State Public Schools Management Association head RC Jain has said that the government should reconsider this policy. He said that especially due to the announcement of the government at the beginning of the education session, apathy towards education can be seen among the children up to class VIII. Because now children know that they will be passed till 8th standard. RC Jain further said that under Section 16 of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, the then Congress government had made such a policy, the result of which is being seen till now. RC Jain, referring to the data received from one of his RTIs, said that in Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Karawal Nagar, where 1148 children passed in 8th class and reached 9th class. At the same time, reaching the 12th, their number was reduced to just 717. In the school of Rajkiya Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Trilokpuri, 236 students in the 9th class remained only 113 by the time they came to class 12th. Not one or two, but most of the schools in Delhi are in almost the same condition. Citing these facts, he has demanded to stop the implementation of this new policy in Delhi. Let us know that the no-detention policy is applicable to all the schools i.e. government, government-aided and private schools. Children from class nursery to class 8 of all these schools will not fail and will be promoted to the next class.
