New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has ruled that the construction of the Central Vista project will be stayed in a major verdict. A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh rejected the petition challenging the construction work under the Central Vista Project and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner. The court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioners and questioned the petitioner's intention saying it was not a PIL. The High Court refused to stay the construction work and said that since the workers are staying on the site, there is no question of suspension of construction work. The court said the DDMA order of concern does not prohibit construction work anywhere. The court made it clear that the project is a very important project related to national importance. It cannot be seen separately. It may be mentioned that translator Anya Malhotra and historian and documentary filmmaker Sohail Hashmi reserved their decision on May 17 on a joint petition. Both had argued in their petition that the project is not an essential task and can be stopped for some time.
