Delhi: lack of wood in crematoriums, municipal corporation seeks help from state forest department

The hue and cry in the capital of the country are on the rise these days. While patients are not getting timely treatment, the crematorium is now facing a shortage of wood after their death. In fact, the number of deaths of covid patients is continuously increasing every day, leading to an increase in the shortage of wood in the municipal crematoriums. Due to which the municipal corporation has now sought help from the state forest department.

It has been learned that the municipal agencies have approached the state forest department to arrange wood. To address this problem, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has issued instructions to the authorities to use dry dung as fuel. Before the second wave came, the city's largest Nigambodh crematorium required 6,000-8,000 kg of wood every day, but now 80,000-90,000 kg of wood is required every day.

Delhi govt to address the shortage of wood: According to information received, North MCD Mayor Jai Prakash said that the stock of wood in crematoriums is declining rapidly. Therefore, the municipal corporation will have to organize cremation facilities in parking lots and parks. Now that the requirement for wood has also increased considerably, the cooperation of the Delhi Government is needed to meet the demand for wood throughout the day.

Let us tell you that the city forest department said it has received requests from municipal agencies for wood. Deputy Patron Aditya Madanpotra said on Tuesday that he has approved the Area Transport Corporation to construct a regional rapid transit system in Delhi, which can now use at least 500 tree wood. On the other hand, the SDMC has asked the Delhi government to ensure that wood from neighboring states can be supplied to the city without any hindrance.
