Chandigarh: Haryana's Palwal police have arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Shoaib, posted in the Special Cell, from the Delhi Police, involved in a drug-smuggling racket. Shoaib used to skirt trucks used to smuggle from his car. ASI Shoaib's racket has been found to be linked to smugglers from Mewat. A pistol was also recovered from Shoaib. Police have announced his arrest on March 1.
According to a press note issued by the Palwal police, on March 1, the police were conducting searches at Sanpur Chowk Hodal. During this time, the informer informed that two drug smugglers are going to come out in a truck numbered RJ-20-GB-8399. Their names were said to be Mohammad and Asif. At the same time, information of 4 smugglers was also found in a car numbered HR-96-3618. Shoaib, Aas Mohammad, Lakhpat and Taufiq were reported to be in the car. The truck was said to be full of ganja, which was coming from Orissa to Ferozepur Jhirka via Palwal. The police were alerted on the information of the informer.
The car, along with ASI Shoaib and 3 others, was helping the ganja-laden truck pass through the road. Eventually, the truck and the car were stopped. Gazetted officers were called to the spot. The truck was checked in his presence. 44 sacks of ganja were recovered from the truck. Their total weight was 1369.75 kg. This ganja was being brought hidden among the coconuts. According to the police, its price in the global market has been estimated at around Rs 2.5 crore. A pistol was also recovered from the possession of Delhi Police ASI Shoaib. Police have registered a case against all the six accused under the NDPS Act and other sections. The police are now on the lookout for the rest of their drug racket mates.
For this, the police will try to take remand of all of them. According to SP Palwal Rajesh Duggal, among the arrested accused is Mohammed son of Abdulla Mev, a resident of Khedli Nanu in Rajasthan. Asif son of Basir is also a resident of Mev, a resident of Babupur tehsil Hathin district Palwal. The other accused include Shoaib son of Gore Khan and Aas Mohammad son of Asgar are residents of Sultanpur district Nuh Mewat. At the same time, Lakhpat son of Idrish Doha and Taufik son of Nasru Bhudki live in the Nangli district of Nuh Mewat.
