New Delhi: In a significant operation, Delhi Police rescued two minor girls from GB Road, a notorious red-light area. The police arrested one individual for trafficking and another for document tampering. Efforts are underway to dismantle the entire trafficking network.
According to the police, the all-women police post at Shraddhanand Marg, focused on ensuring the safety of women and children, recovered incriminating items during a routine check. These included a mobile phone, six photocopies of Aadhaar cards, a PAN card, and 14 passport-size photographs of various men and women.
On the night of July 16-17, Central District Police, while conducting routine checks, discovered the two girls working in brothel number 59. The girls were presented as adults, but their height and physique raised suspicions. Upon questioning, they could not provide convincing answers. Further investigation revealed that both girls were minors, aged 17. The police promptly removed the girls from the red-light area, called in an NGO counselor, and placed them in a shelter home.
During counseling, it emerged that a year ago, a woman named Kiran had brought the girls to the area, having met them through individuals named Rishi and Sanjay. The girls' statements were recorded on July 18 after medical examinations at Loknayak Hospital.
The investigation also uncovered that Lala Ram, alias Sunil, from Malka Ganj Road, Sabzi Mandi area, had tampered with the Aadhaar cards to falsely show the minors as adults. Based on Kiran's information, the Kamla Market police station arrested Lala Ram. They recovered a mobile phone, a Samsung notebook, six photocopies of Aadhaar cards, a PAN card, and 14 passport-size photographs from him. The police have launched an investigation to break this trafficking network.
Notably, the Shraddhanand Marg police station had previously rescued a minor on July 12. Legal action has been taken under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, and orders for eviction and sealing have been issued for the building where the minor was found, providing further protection against such activities.
