New Delhi: Ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory and imposed several restrictions around the Red Fort area to ensure smooth operations and heightened security for attendees. Traffic and Security Measures The police have extended the ban on sub-conventional aerial platforms, including para-gliders, UAVs, hot air balloons, and small aircraft, which has been in effect since August 1. This restriction will remain in place until the end of the day on August 15. Road Closures On Independence Day, several key roads will be closed. Alternative Routes To navigate around the restricted areas, consider the following alternative routes: North-South Travel: Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjang Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SP Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkulan Road, Rani Jhansi Road. East-West Travel: NH-24 (NH-9) Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapula Road, under AllMS Flyover Ring Road, Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Subramanian Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Prithviraj Road, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel Marg, SP Marg/Ridge Road. Bridge and Vehicle Restrictions The Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge towards Shanti Van will be closed. Goods vehicles will be prohibited from traveling between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge from midnight on August 14 until 11 am on August 15. Interstate buses will also be barred from traveling between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during the same period. Changes in Bus Routes Local city buses operated by DTC should avoid Ring Road between ISBT Kashmere Gate and Ring Road – NH-24 (NH-9)/NH T-point (Nizamuddin Khatta) from midnight Wednesday to 11 am Thursday. Instead, buses will use alternative routes and those that usually terminate at Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, Bhai Mati Dass Chowk, Mon Gate, ISBT Pragati Maidan, and Ambedkar Stadium Terminal will now end at Turkman Gate on Asaf Ali Road.
