In Uttarakhand too, delta plus variant case stirs health department

New Delhi: The Delta Plus variant of The Rona Virus is spreading rapidly across the country. Now a new case of the Delta Plus variant has been found in Uttarakhand. A delta plus variant has reportedly been found in a person in the Udham Singh Nagar district. Udham Singh Nagar Additional Chief Medical Officer Avinash Khanna has said that the person in whom delta plus variant has been confirmed has returned from Lucknow. He said he is now living with his parents in Lucknow, where his mother works as a nurse in a hospital.

Health officer Avinash Khanna said that some of the areas he visited during his stay at Dineshpur in Udham Singh Nagar district have been converted into cantonment zones. The World Health Organization (WHO) has described the Delta version as well as all delta variants, including Delta Plus, as 'Variant of Concern.' Earlier, two people in UP have been hit by delta plus variants. One person has died, while the other has recovered from home isolation. According to the information, a total of 850 samples went for genome sequencing in the months of April to May, with only 2 samples found to contain delta plus variants.

In April and May, 30 samples around Gorakhpur were sent to the Lab of the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) for testing. Out of 30 samples, 2 samples have found the Delta Plus variant, while 27 have the delta variant and one has the kappa variant.
