PRAYAGRAJ: A private hospital in Prayagraj was sealed for allegedly transfusing fruit juice instead of blood platelets to a dengue patient who later died, police said. The hospital was sealed on Thursday at the order of Uttar Pradesh's deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak after a video of the allegedly violent incident went viral on social media. According to officials, the patient, Pradeep Pandey, was transferred to another hospital where he die after his health deteriorated. But no FIR has been filed at the nearby police station. The owner of the private hospital said that the platelets were brought from a different medical facility and the patient had a reaction after 3 units were transfused. Deputy CM Pathak stated in a tweet that the hospital was sealed and the platelet packets had been submitted for testing in response to the viral video showing a dengue sufferer receiving sweet lemon juice instead of platelets. Strict action would be taken against the hospital if it were proven guilty, he warned. The patient reportedly died as a result of receiving the "wrong platelets," and samples of those will be tested. When asked about the cause for the hospital's closure, an official who wished to remain anonymous replied that it had been done per the chief medical officer's directions and would stay closed until the sample had been examined. The patient's platelets count dropped to 17,000, according to hospital owner Saurabh Mishra, therefore his family was requested to arrange blood platelets for him. Five units of platelets from SRN Hospital were brought. The patient reacted after receiving three units of blood transfusion. Thus, we put an end to it," he said. The platelets should be inspected, according to Mishra, and their origin should be determined as they were marked with the SRN hospital tag. Sanjay Kumar Khatri, the district magistrate, stated that a probe is being conducted and that platelets would also be examined. Delhi's air will be 'suffocating' even before Diwali!
