New Delhi: Even before Diwali arrives, the air in Delhi has started becoming poisonous. On Thursday, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) level was recorded at 232. That is, on Thursday, Delhi's air was in the 'poor' category, while from Saturday, Delhi's air is expected to go into the 'very poor' category. Therefore, the second phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in the capital. The second stage is applied when the AQI level is between 301 and 400. 

Explain how bad or good the air is, it is known from the AQI itself. An AQI is considered good when it is between 0 and 50, while it is considered severe when it is between 401 and 500. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air level in most areas of Delhi-NCR remained in the 'poor' category. AQI levels in the 'poor' category mean that there may be breathing problems if you stay out for a long time.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board report, Gurugram is the only one where the air condition is good. The AQI level in Gurugram stood at 189 on October 20. It falls in the 'medium' category. On Thursday, the AQI level was recorded at 296 in Faridabad, 252 in Ghaziabad, 216 in Greater Noida and 231 in Noida. However, in Delhi and Gurugram, there was an increase in AQI levels compared to the last 24 hours.
