Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the Direct Port Facility at V O Chidambaranar Port virtually. The DPE facility will provide direct movement of containers from factories, enabling the shippers to Gate-In their factory stuffed exports directly to the Container Terminal on 24x7 basis. This is being set up at an area of 18,357 sqm inside the Truck Parking Terminal under 'Sagarmala' to issue customs clearance. The factory stuffed containers were taken to one of the container freight stations (CFSs) / Inland Container Depot (ICD) operating in Tuticorin working between 10 AM to 8 PM on working days, there was a delay in shipment. This DPE facility reduces the time ensuring faster export. Assam CM laid foundation stone for Two Stadiums The facility can handle 18000 TEUs per month. A dedicated team of Central Warehousing Corporation CWC and Customs officials, in association with VOC Port, will serve Tier-II, Tier-III (AEO) certified EXIM clients.Addressing the function, he said it is an important step towards reducing logistics cost and increasing the velocity of the cargo. This function will help in ease to export with reduction in time, cost and improves the competitiveness of the customer in the international trade.
