Donald Trump ban entry of Chinese students and researchers in America

Washington: Tensions between China and the United States are increasing. The two countries have escalated due to the enforcement of the controversial security law first in Coronavirus and then in Hong Kong. US President Donald Trump has taken a harsh decision against Chinese students on Friday after signaling a declaration of sanctions against China on the issue. He has announced a ban on entry into the country of Chinese students and researchers from the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

President Trump said the move was to end China's efforts to use undergraduate students to gain intellectual property and technology from the US. On the other hand, China on Friday threatened Trump's threat to ban his students in the US as racist. Trump said that China has undertaken extensive campaigns to acquire sensitive US technologies and intellectual property to modernize its Army People's Liberation Army (PLA).

He said that this Chinese activity is a big threat to America's long-term economic strength and the security of the American people. Trump alleged that China uses some of its students, mostly post-graduates and researchers, to collect intellectual property, so Chinese students or researchers belonging to PLA are at greater risk of being used by Chinese authorities and this is a cause for concern. Trump said, "In view of this, I decided that the entry of some Chinese nationals seeking F or J visas to study or research in the US would be risky for America's interests."
