Elaborate security set up in place for Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K

SRINAGAR:  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha  on Friday announced  that all required security preparations had been done for Congressman Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra's leg through Jammu and Kashmir.

On Thursday, the march reached Kashmir, and on January 30, a rally will be held in Srinagar to mark its conclusion. "From a security perspective, the yatra won't have any issues. All security precautions have been made, Sinha informed reporters after breaking ground on a massive housing development for migrant workers from Kashmir funded by the PM package 12 kilometres away in Zewan.

The Lieutenant Governor said the common people and the impoverished do not need to be afraid of the eviction drive that the union territory administration has started.

Action is being taken against powerful individuals who abused their positions and broke the law in order to possess huge portions of land, the speaker continued.

In reference to the housing project for migrant Kashmiri workers, he claimed that the administration was working to find solutions for their problems.

Last time we had initiated efforts for making accommodation for Kashmiri migrants in Bandipora and Baramulla. The maximum number of Kashmir migrant workds is in Srinagar. Hence,  today we have started a mega housing project for them in Srinagar. The chief engineer has said the project (930 flats) will be completed by December this year,” Sinha said.  The LG stated that the administration was attentive to the legitimate concerns of the migratory Kashmiri workers and was working to find solutions to their issues, whether in Jammu or Kashmir.

"The administration has been in touch with them and we are solving their genuine issues. Previously, there were empty positions; however, all positions have now been filled. Land was previously unavailable for houses, but now construction has begun everywhere. 1,800 flats will be available by the end of December, and 1,300 flats will be ready soon, he added.

He said from the security point of view, the administration, in consultation with the police, has posted these employees at “appropriate places”.
