Madhya Pradesh by-election: Voting on November 3, results on 10th, EC releases schedule

Indore: Dates have been announced for by-elections to 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh. The election commission has scheduled bye-elections to 56 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, 28 seats will be voting on 3rd November. Election results will be announced on November 10. The last date for enrolment will be on 16th October.

The bye-election was not announced in Madhya Pradesh at the time of announcement of the dates of Bihar elections. The election commission had said that the decision on the bye-elections would be taken in the 29th September meeting. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP is fighting to save its power in the bye-elections and Congress leader Kamal Nath is fighting to regain the lost power six months ago. In the bye-election, the izzat of Jyotiraditya Scindia, who joined the BJP, is also at stake as 16 seats in the 28 seats where the bye-election is being held in gwalior-Chambal region, which is considered to be the stronghold of Scindia.

In Madhya Pradesh, assembly bye-elections are being held in 28 seats. For the first time, such a large scale bye-election is taking off in the state. The reason behind this is the political reshuffle in the state in March. On March 10 this year, 22 Congress MLAs along with Jyotiraditya Scindia took over the BJP's hand while edging the party. After that, kamal Nath government fell into minority and 22 seats were vacated due to resignation of Congress MLAs.
