Encounter between cattle smuggler and BSF jawans on Indo-Bangladesh border, one dead

Guwahati: An encounter broke out between BSF personnel and alleged cattle smugglers along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border, in which one smuggler was killed and a BSF jawan was seriously injured. BSF sources said that an encounter broke out between BSF personnel and cattle smugglers in South Salmara district of Assam, in which one smuggler was killed and a BSF jawan was seriously injured. The rest of the smugglers have fled from the spot.

The deceased smuggler has been identified as a 23-year-old resident of Mandal Para of Mo Mandal Mankachar police station area. Earlier, in a special operation, the Chhayagaon police team, under the leadership of officer-in-charge Kapil Pathak, on Wednesday nabbed three cattle smugglers who were illegally transporting 10 cattle. A Tata Xenon vehicle (AS-01-KC-1823) has also been seized, police sources said in Chhaygaon assembly constituency.

 On the other hand, Chaigaon police arrested three cattle smugglers who were illegally transporting nine cattle on Tuesday morning. The three smugglers have been identified as Samad Ali (37) of Andhatari village of Boko assembly constituency, Saiful Islam (27) of Tukrapara village of Chhayagaon assembly constituency and Salimuddin (26) of Tukrapara village of Chhayagaon assembly constituency. They were traveling from Boko to Ukiam in a Tata Xenon vehicle (AS-25-CC-5929).
