Hazaribagh: A case of gang rape of a 16-year-old girl has come to light in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chauthe said that three out of five criminals have been taken into custody and raids are on to nab the remaining two.

The officer said the incident took place in a village in Daru police station area on Sunday night when the student and her two friends had approached the pond. He said five motorcycle riders from neighbouring villages kidnapped the girl and took her to a deserted place and raped her and made a video of the same incident.

He also said that the criminals threatened the girl that if she told anyone about the case or contacted the police, they would upload the video on social media. They then left her at the spot and fled from there. The officer said the girl fainted and returned home after regaining consciousness and informed her family about the matter. Police said the family members took her to Hazaribagh Medical College and Hospital and doctors informed the police. Chauthe said he is undergoing treatment at the hospital and her condition is said to be stable.
