Jharkhand govt frees 23 electricians trapped in private company for 3 months

Ranchi: 23 power workers trapped in a private company in Raigad, Maharashtra for more than three months were freed and brought back at the initiative of the Jharkhand government. A state government spokesperson said a private company in Maharashtra had not been paying money to power workers in Jharkhand for at least three months.

He said, "After the matter came to the notice of the State Government, all the labourers were released by pressurising the company. The returning workers thanked the CM for the government's initiative in returning home.'' He said 23 workers from West Singhbhum reached Chakradharpur on Tuesday by SRC Festival Special train from Raigad in Maharashtra. These labourers worked as electricians in L&T Konkan Railway in the Raigad district.

The same company had not been paying them salaries for the last three months. The hard-working workers decided to return but they did not even have the money to buy a train ticket. The labourers approached the State Migrant Control Room of the Labour Department and sought assistance. 10,000/- for all the labourers and they were brought back to the State.
