Kolkata: Partha Chatterjee, a cabinet minister in the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday morning. Earlier, the investigating agency officials had questioned Mamata's minister Partha Chatterjee throughout the night on Friday in connection with the teachers' recruitment scam case. ED officials had started questioning Chatterjee at his residence from 8 am on Friday, which continued on Saturday. After questioning, the investigating agency arrested minister Partha Chatterjee. Earlier on Friday, the ED had recovered Rs 20 crore in cash from a house in south Kolkata of Arpita Mukherjee, considered close to Chatterjee. Partha Chatterjee was the Education Minister in Mamata Banerjee's government when this scam took place. The Enforcement Directorate is probing the money laundering aspect against those allegedly involved in the fraud. At present, Arpita Mukherjee is said to be close to Partha Chatterjee, a minister in the West Bengal government. At the moment, the question is how did Arpita Mukherjee, who once played a side role in Bengali films, become close to Partha Chatterjee, who was counted among the stalwarts of the ruling Trinamool Congress?
