Srinagar: (Jammu & Kashmir): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday urged all residents to support the Har Ghar Tiranga movement ahead of the country's Independence Day celebrations - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav -on August 15.
"Our National Flag was adopted on July 22nd. It represents our forebears' efforts and sacrifices, and also the hopes and aspirations of a New India. Let us reiterate our commitment to safeguarding Tiranga's honour and dignity with the same zeal and dedication", Sinha's office tweeted.
The post went on to read, "I urge all residents to support the Har Ghar Tiranga movement. Let us commit to hoist the Tiranga or show it in our houses between August 13th and 15th."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday also urged people to support the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' movement by raising or displaying the national flag in their houses between August 13 and 15.
The 'Tiranga movement' intends to raise national flags in about 20 crore homes across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a series of tweets that this effort will "deepen our relationship with the Tricolour," noting that the Tricolour was introduced on July 22, 1947.
