Entertainment world shocked by the demise of this actress, President expresses grief

There is a piece of sad news from the Odia movie industry. Veteran actress Jharna Das has passed away. She breathed her last at her Chandni Road residence in Cuttack late on December 1. Reports say that the actress was suffering from old age ailments and was not well for some time now. President Draupadi Murmu condoled the passing away of Jharna Das.  

President Draupadi Murmu also condoled the death of the actress in a tweet. She wrote "Saddened to know about the passing away of legendary Oriya actress Jharna Das. She is always going to be remembered for her outstanding contribution to the Odia film industry. My deepest condolences to the family and her fans.''

Born in 1945, Das started her acting career in the 60s and has also won several awards for her stellar performances in movies like 'Shree Jagannath', 'Nari', 'Adinamegh', 'Hisaabnikas', 'Poojafula', and 'Amadabata'. At the same time, the actress has also been awarded the state government's prestigious 'Jayadev Award' for her lifetime contribution to the Odia movie industry. Apart from this, she also worked as a child artist and announcer with All India Radio Cuttack.
