Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passes away at 66

New Delhi: Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away on Saturday after battling a prolonged illness. He was 66 years old and had been ill for a long time. Today, he breathed his last at the AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Senior BJP leader Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on 9th August after complaining of nervousness and weakness.  Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah had gone to AIIMS to learn about his health, besides prime minister Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, etc. Jaitley's condition worsened again late Friday evening. Their hearts and lungs were not working properly, so they were placed on a machine. Significantly, extroporial membrane oxygenation, also known as extracarporial life support, is an extroporal technique for providing long-term heart and respiratory support to people whose heart and lungs are not functioning properly. He was diagnosed with kidney transplant in May 2018. She underwent bariatric surgery (abdominal fat operation for weight loss) in 2016. Jaitley was also suffering from diabetes.
