Faruq Abdullah's disputed statement says, Section 370 will be re-enforced in J&K with help of China

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has made a controversial statement that started a controversy. Farooq has said that the re-restoration of Section 370 in Jammu and Kashmir could happen with the help of China. He has said that he hopes that Section 370 will be re-enforced in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of China.

It may be noted that Farooq Abdullah has been consistently saying that he is committed to re-reinstatement of Section 370 and Article 35A to grant statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Last Monday, National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah had said that peace, development, economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be achieved unless the Central government withdraws all its decisions taken on August 5 last year. Abdullah, MP from Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, made the statement at a function here.

On August 5, 2019, the Central government had announced the abolition of Section 370 of the Constitution granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The state was divided into two Union Territories. On Monday, Abdullah said, "The goal of inclusive growth in Jammu and Kashmir in real terms can only be achieved by strengthening the people and withdrawing the decisions taken on August 5, 2019."
