Finance Minister to hold Pre-Budget Consultations beginning today

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will conduct the first meeting in the pre-Budget consultation process with stakeholders today, with experts from the agriculture and agro-processing industries.

"Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman will begin her Pre-Budget discussions with various stakeholder groups in New Delhi, Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, in preparation for the next General Budget 2022-23. The talks will take place over the internet "In a tweet, the finance ministry stated.

For restoring consumption and boosting growth impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Sitharaman would seek feedback from various stakeholders, including industrial agencies, farmer organisations, and economists.

During the current fiscal year, growth is expected to be in the double digits. In its most recent bi-monthly monetary policy review, the RBI projected 9.5 percent GDP growth in 2021-22. The government expects a fiscal deficit of 6.8 percent of GDP in the coming fiscal year (GDP).

The Budget for 2022-23 is expected to be delivered on February 1st, during the first part of Parliament's Budget session, which typically begins in the last week of January each year.
