Former Indian goalkeeper Bhaskar Maity died at age of 67

Former goalkeeper of the country Bhaskar Maity died on Wednesday in Navi Mumbai Hospital due to brain haemorrhage. The goalkeeper was 67 years old. Bhaskar Maity's family consists of his wife, a son and a daughter.

Bhaskar Maity represented India against Iraq during the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok. Bhaskar played for Maharashtra in the Maity Santosh Trophy from 1975 to 1979. Goalkeeper Bhaskar played for Mafatlal Sports Club from 1974 to 1980 and National Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF) from 1981 to 1982. However, the goalkeeper became the coach of the RCF football team after his retirement. All India Football Federation President Praful Patel has expressed grief over the death of goalkeeper Maity. He said in the condolence message, "It is very sad to hear the news of the death of Bhaskar Maity. His contribution was very important."

The General Secretary of the Federation, Kushal Das also expressed condolences and said, '"Talented Bhaskar Maity was an inspiration for many. May his soul rest in peace."
