New Delhi: On Wednesday, November 24, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for 25 National Highway projects in Jammu, totaling 257 kilometres and costing Rs 11,721 crores. These projects will provide all-weather connection between Jammu and Kashmir valley, according to an official statement made by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. According to the ministry, these are strategically vital for the quick movement of defence forces as well as the region's agricultural, industrial, and socio-economic progress. It goes on to say that the projects will connect all important roads connecting to various district offices, resulting in more job and self-employment options. "The projects will include the rehabilitation and upgrading of some portions, the construction of a viaduct and tunnel, and the rectification of black spots," said the ministry.
