Goa Police arrests K'tka origin man held for robbing, killing woman in Goa

A man from Karnataka was arrested on Monday for allegedly killing a 54-year-old woman in the South Goa district and fled with her gold chain, Goa police officer said.

Rupa Parkar's body was found in bushes near Sanvordem village on May 6, and the culprit, Hussain Khan (40), a private firm driver, was detained on Saturday, according to Superintendent of Police (South Goa) Abhishek Dhania. According to Hussain, the police picked about 50 people while investigating the crime before focusing on him.

The offender admitted to the authorities that he gave the woman a ride while she waited for a bus. He then brought her to a remote location and allegedly killed her by striking her in the head with an iron rod, according to the official. The man also admitted to killing the woman in order to steal her gold necklace, which he later pawned to secure a loan and buy a two-wheeler, according to the official.
