Goa's new airport to be operational by August 2022

Panaji: The first phase of Goa's upcoming Mopa International Airport is said to be operational by August 2022. In fact, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has informed the state assembly during the ongoing monsoon session. In the meantime, he said, "34.24% of the airport project has been completed by June 2021.''

In fact, Pramod Sawant in a written reply to a question by BJP MLA Neelkanth Halarankar said, "The development of Greenfield International Airport at Mopa in Pernem taluka is in progress and the first phase is expected to begin by August 2022.'' At the same time, Pramod Sawant further said, "The physical progress achieved till June 30, 2021, is 34.24 percent.''

Meanwhile, for another question by another BJP MLA Atanasio Monserrate, Pramod Sawant in his written reply said, "The airport project has increased time and cost due to restraint by courts and epidemics.'' At the same time, Pramod Sawant further said, "The initial estimated cost of the project is Rs.1,900 crores and has been revised to Rs.2,615 crores.''
