Kochi: The Coronavirus epidemic in Kerala is wreaking havoc. More than 22,000 new cases of infection have been reported in the province in a row for the past three days. Some reports also predict the beginning of the third wave of the corona. Realizing the seriousness of the matter, the Central Government is sending a high-level team to Kerala. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also expressed concern over the pace of transition.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Friday morning that "The increasing cases of coronavirus infection in Kerala are alarming. I appeal to my brothers and sisters in the state to follow all safety measures and guidelines. Please keep in mind.'' Tell you that 22,064 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Kerala on Thursday and 128 people have lost their lives. With this, the total number of infected people has increased to 33,49,365 and the death toll has increased to 16,585.
State Health Minister Veena George said that 1,63,098 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the screening infection rate was reported at 13.53 percent. The state has so far tested 2,68,96,792 samples. Malappuram district recorded the highest number of 3,679 cases, Thrissur 2,752 and Kozhikode 2,619. George said the total number of people who recovered increased to 31,77,453 after 16,649 patients were infection-free on Thursday. At present 1,54,820 patients are undergoing treatment.
