Mumbai: Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi has made a statement criticizing the Central government last Wednesday. He said, "The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament without listening to the views of the Opposition, it is an anti-justice move.'' Talking to a well-known website, he said, "The way the Juvenile Justice Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha today without listening to the views of the opposition members reflects the arrogance of the government. These amendments are anti-justice, it is a job against children. The JJB Amendment Bill is unaware of the challenges in which teenagers are living in shelter homes.''

At the same time, he said, "It shows how shamelessly the government is focusing on centralization of power.'' He said the bill empowers district magistrates to decide the fate of a child instead of the court. He further said, "He (DM) will become the only comprehensive officer to decide on shelter homes, compliance, adoption without the need for judicial intervention. Such bulldozering reflects the ruthless arrogance of the government.''

Let me tell all of you that his remarks come after the JJB Bill, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha, and now passed in the Rajya Sabha.
