Patna: After the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission for the years 2020-21 and 2021-22, more than Rs 1.41 lakh crore has been released to the Bihar government by the Central Government as income of central taxes and duties. This was reported by the Centre in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Lower House of Parliament that an additional amount of 45,000 crore rupees has also been released by the Central government. The amount has been given under grants for rural development, health sector, State Disaster Response Fund among others. Chaudhary said in the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour, "Based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, an amount of Rs 59,861.41 crore from central taxes and duties has been released for Bihar due to the year 2020-21 and an amount of Rs 81,789.32 crore has been released for Bihar due to the year 2021-22. He also said that the 15th Finance Commission had also recommended that all kinds of funds should be transferred to other states, including Bihar. The Union Minister of State for Finance informed that the criteria of merit have been fixed by the Commission for this work. The funds recommended to be transferred by the same Commission to Bihar include a grant of Rs.87.27 crore for rural local bodies, Rs.31.75 crore for urban local bodies and Rs.25.48 crore for the state disaster response fund.
