Deadly liquor in Bihar! 16 people lost their lives in 4 days

Patna: Even after prohibition, cases of deaths due to illegal and spurious liquor consumption in Bihar are not taking the name of stopping. In the last four days, 16 persons lost their lives due to the consumption of spurious liquor in Bhagalpur and Gopalganj of the state. The driver of a Sabapur police station was also among the six dead in Bhagalpur. On the other hand, in Gopalganj, 10 persons have died due to the consumption of spurious liquor. The driver's wife said her husband used to drink alcohol every day. Bhagalpur District Magistrate Subrata Kumar Sen said that the families of the two deceased said that they were unwell. However, an investigation into the case has been ordered.  

The death toll has gone up to 10 with six more deaths in Gopalganj on Monday. Police said four persons had succumbed to their injuries on the intervening night of Friday-Saturday. Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar said that the family members and doctors have not confirmed the death due to the consumption of alcohol.  

Earlier on March 9, three persons lost their lives in Dhebar village under the Deronda police station area of Siwan. These deaths were also claimed to be due to toxic alcohol. Two of them were cremated before the police arrived.   At the same time, a person in Khapatola village of East Champaran district also died of poisonous liquor. Even after the implementation of complete prohibition in Bihar, there are reports of deaths due to consumption of illicit liquor or spurious liquor every day. Recently, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had directed strict action against the sale of illicit liquor, even after this, it is not being controlled.
