Gujarat: 9 dead, several injured after SUV rams into bus in Navsari

As many as 9 people were killed and 15 were left injured after a luxury bus and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided in Gujarat’s Navsari district on Saturday, December 31.

As per the statement by VN. Patel, deputy superintendent of police, Navsari, the accident took place on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway. “One seriously injured has been referred to Surat.” 

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter posting:  "The road accident in Gujarat's Navsari is heartbreaking. My condolences to those who have lost their families in this tragedy. May the Almighty God give them the strength to bear the pain. The local administration quickly treats the injured, praying for their speedy recovery."

As per reports, it reads that those travelling in the SUV were residents of Ankleshwar and they were on their way back to their hometown from Valsad. The passengers of the bus hailed from Valsad.

The injured were admitted to a hospital and were undergoing treatment. More details are awaited.
