MEHSANA: Three accused have reportedly been arrested in a gang-rape case in Mehsana and two more are absconding, the police said here on Thursday. On Tuesday night, the accused enticed a woman and took her to a field; however, the victim managed to escape on Wednesday morning and reported the incident to the Unjha police station. Inspector K.J. Patel of the Unjha Police reported to the local media that a woman entered the police station on Wednesday in the late afternoon. She claimed that on Tuesday night, as she was walking home from the Unjha bus stop, auto-rickshaw driver Saiyad Amiruddin and two other men approached her. They then drove her to a farm in the Bhakhar village, where Saiyad Amiruddin, Saiyad Asabamiya Murtuja Miya, and Sadiq Mohammad Sarquddin repeatedly violated her. They then called two other villagers, who also committed The police claimed that she was unable to identify the other two suspects. The woman informed the police that she was able to flee on Wednesday morning and make it to the Unjha police station. Police ordered her for a medical exam after she filed the accusation. A police officer at the Unjha Police Station said that by late evening, police had successfully taken custody of three suspects. They would be formally taken into custody once their corona test is negative. They will also be required to undergo the medical exams. Since the victim did not identify two of the accused, police stated they will learn their names during initial interrogation of the accused and make an arrest shortly.
