Sant Ravidas gave a message of equality to society

Sant Ravidas Ji, a contemporary of Kabir, was born on the day of Maghi Purnima in a tanner family in Sir Gobardhan, Varanasi. This year 643rd birth anniversary of Ravidas Ji is being celebrated. On this auspicious festival, all the devotees do kirtan and take bath in a holy river or water source in the morning. In all temples and gurudwaras, special decoration and worship is done on this day.

A temple has also been constructed at Sir Gobardhan, the birthplace of Ravidas ji. And at this time a three-day fair is held here, in which devotees from all over the world visit. Ravidas ji also led the Bhakti movement in North India. Ravidas ji has given religious and social messages to the people of society and country through his compositions. Ravidas ji belongs to a tanners family which is considered low in society.

This caste is also discriminated against. Ravidas ji has also tried many times to reduce it. The people of Nirgun Sampraday consider Ravidas ji as a great saint. Many such stories are also said for him that 'God sent Ravidas to the earth to protect the religion.'
