Chandigarh: A youth set himself on fire at DLF Phase 1 in Faridabad after his friend did not give him his mobile phone to talk to someone, police said on Sunday. He suffered severe burn injuries due to the fire. He says that he had asked for a mobile to talk to his sister, but the friend refused. Angered by this, he poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire. According to the report, the name of the young man who tried to commit suicide is Rajendra. He is a resident of the Hathras district of UP. The young man, who suffered burn injuries, said he had four sisters. He is a driver. He had arrived with his friend in Faridabad's DLF Face 1 area, where he asked for a mobile from his friend as he had to call his sister. However, the friend did not give the phone. Angered by this, he poured petrol and set himself on fire. Rajendra was rescued by people from the flames. Rajendra has suffered nearly 50 percent burns. The youth was rushed to Faridabad Civil Hospital Badshah Khan, where doctors referred him to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital in view of his critical condition. According to Rajendra's friend and his truck owner, Rajendra had consumed a lot of alcohol, he was also in depression. Rajendra's mother died 20 days ago and Rajendra's brother died 40 days ago.
