Scarlett Johnson was born in New York. She is from a refugee family that came from the Dominican Republic. Her family obtained American citizenship when she was only 7 years old. Her father was an alcoholic who often quarreled with her mother. When Scarlett was 13, her parents divorced. Scarlett also has brothers and sisters. Her elder brother is Nam Johnson and younger sister's name is Wendy Johnson. Scarlett was fond of acting since her childhood and used to participate in school plays. Scarlett started her career in 1994 with a film named "North". She played a minor role in the film. But she got a real breakthrough in the film "Lost in Translation" which was released in 2003. She played a serious role in this film with an American icon becoming the host of a Japanese TV show. She also got an Oscar nomination for this film. She has worked in many other successful films in her career such as "The Avengers", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Lucy" and "Jojo Rabbit". She has also worked on television in several series such as "Saturday Night Live" and "Robot Chicken". Her next project is "Black Widow" which was released in 2021.
