Health Ministry: Over 75 pc in 15-18 age group administered first dose

NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that more than 75% of people aged 15 to 18 had received their first dose of the Covid vaccine.

As of Wednesday morning, India had administered a total of 5,55,80,872 first doses of Covid vaccines and 3,20,34,392 second doses to this age group, according to a statement from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mandaviya congratulated the children, writing, "Proud of our young warriors!" Over 75% of children aged 15 to 18 have received their first dose of COVID19 vaccine." "Young India's massive participation has significantly strengthened the world's largest vaccination drive," he said.

As of Wednesday morning, the country's Covid inoculation coverage had reached 179.33 crore, with over 18.69 lakh vaccine doses administered in the previous 24 hours.

Furthermore, the country saw a marginal increase in new Covid infections on Wednesday, with 4,575 cases reported, up from 3,993 the day before. A total of 145 new Covid-related fatalities have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 5,15,355.

Active Covid cases have been reduced to 46,962, accounting for 0.11 percent of all cases in the country.
